Biographical Information

DeWitt "Buck" Buchanan graduated from Purdue in 1898 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduating in three years. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Purdue Track team. After graduation, Buchanan was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad, which included work on the Panama Canal. He later ran a successful family coal business, the Old Ben Coal Corporation, based in Illinois and the Midwest.
