[Original Abstract from Lecture]
While minor consent is the accepted standard for behavioral HIV prevention research, minor consent for biomedical prevention research raises regulatory and ethical concerns. Ought a minor consent to a randomized controlled trial for an unproven medication? Do they have the cognitive and emotional maturity? What do the regulations say? Dr. Ott will provide a developmental framework for understanding minor consent for research on sensitive topics.
