Biographical or Historical Information

The Indiana State Grange was established in 1871 and sought to promote the interests of agriculture in the state of Indiana, which included the promotion of public education infrastructure which emphasized agricultural instruction. In the 1886 annual meeting of the grange, the grange appointed a committee to visit Purdue and report on its “practical workings.” The report of that committee contained in this collection was later added to the published proceedings of the grange’s sixteenth annual session.
